Petco Catches Up with Click-and-Collect
Petco continued to expand its e-commerce offerings this month by rolling out a click-and-collect service.
In stores, window posters promote the free service as a way to avoid shipping fees and waiting for delivery. Orders are stored in dedicated lockers opened by employees. Channel leader PetSmart has been offering the same service since 2014.
Petco first tested letting shoppers place online orders for in-store pickup at the PetCoach experimental store it opened in July. The retailer is encouraging trial by offering 10% off click-and-collect orders placed from Aug. 5-18 and a 5% discount through Aug. 30. A home page carousel ad, paid search, an Aug. 19 circular feature and multiple email blasts support.
