The Molson Coors Beverage Co. has selected Matthew Hook to lead the company's supply chain efforts in the Americas segment beginning Oct. 12.

Hook previously served as the company's VP of manufacturing operations for North America. In that role, he helped modernize the company's breweries and bolstered its operational foundation to elevate customer experiences. He was hired for his "deep knowledge of Molson Coors and the global perspective he's built over his career," according to a company post on LinkedIn.

He takes over for Brian Erhardt, who was in the role for seven years and spent more than two decades at Molson Coors.

Over his 27-year tenure at the company, Hook has directed end-to-end supply chain operations across North America, including overseeing 11 regional breweries and packaging sites.

Key North American achievements include spearheading digital supply chain transformations, optimizing route-to-market strategies across complex Canadian distribution networks (such as DSD and The Beer Store), and driving integrated business planning to streamline logistics, warehousing and strategic supply partnerships, according to his LinkedIn profile.

"That breadth gives him a rare, end-to-end view of how our supply chain functions as one connected system across geographies and disciplines," said the company.

Goyal's Growth Strategy

The leadership shift occurs during a period of transition for the company as new president and CEO Rahul Goyal aims to implement a leaner, more focused business approach supported by investments in tech capabilities.

Goyal had previously shared details about this strategy, which aims to prioritize investments on core and economy beer portfolios, building scale for the non-alcoholic segment through its acquisitions, bridging a sizable distribution gap with Coors Light and repairing weaknesses with Miller Lite.

During the recent Barclays 19th Annual Global Consumer Staples Conference, Goyal said Miller Lite "was stuck," but rather than requiring a complete overhaul of the brand, the company needs to focus on local execution, leaning on a historical stronghold in the Midwest. While the company deals with big national brands, he says, the business is very local and so Molson Coors will need to focus on local price promotions and activations.

The transformation centers on a rewired organization supported by ERP and AI upgrades to augment and automate various areas of the supply chain and the sales and marketing functions.

"We have a strong foundation in our infrastructure, whether it's breweries, whether it's supply chain," said Goyal in a previous statement. "But it is an area that we need to make sure we are keeping up with, either on the commercial side, whether it's on the technology side, optimizing our brewery footprint in the best possible way, and making sure we can meet some of the needs of our new capabilities."
