Family Dollar Cleans Smart
Family Dollar again made its Smart Coupons program the center of its spring cleaning campaign, offering deals on bulk purchases of products from Clorox Co. and SC Johnson.
During February and March, Family Dollar extended digital coupons for $5 off a $15 purchase of Clorox Co.'s flagship brand, Fraganzia, Liquid-Plumr, Glad or Pine-Sol, or SC Johnson's Windex, Drano, Scrubbing Bubbles, Shout, Glade or Pledge. Rack signs and window posters promoted the deals in stores, with circular features, Facebook and Twitter updates, and email ads supporting.
The retailer also used circular features to dangle lower value coupons for dozens of other household brands including private label Homeline, Henkel's Snuggle, Procter & Gamble's Cascade and 3M's Scotch-Brite. A home page carousel ad and Facebook cover promoted the deals and positioned the retailer as a place to shop for favorite national brands.
In other seasonal activity, Family Dollar enlisted Denisse Icaza, creator of the Spanish-language blog Ahorros Para Mama, to write a blog post about spring cleaning on a budget. The post appeared in Spanish on Ahorros Para Mama and in English on the retailer's Ideas & Inspiration blog. A March 9 Facebook update plugged the post. Clorox also provided multiple themed post for Ideas & Inspiration.
