Circle K, Cheetos Make a Froster Drink
Circle K and PepsiCo/Frito-Lay's Cheetos have teamed to launch a Froster flavor inspired by the brand's Sweetos cinnamon sugar puffs.
In stores, signs affixed to the retailer's Froster machine tout the limited-time Sweetos Cinnamon Sugar flavor, which was first spotted in stores in March. Clings depicting Chester Cheetah and a Snapchat QR code serve to indirectly tout the flavor and tease another flavor's upcoming launch by directing users to a Feb. 22 Twitter update from Cheetosmystery depicting Chester, red hot peppers and what looks like a mango as "only at Circle K." Cheetos Sweetos also enjoys secondary merchandising space on endcaps.
In other digital activity, posts seeded by Rogers, AR-based Collective Bias from bloggers such as Sarah Ruhlman, founder and editor of SarahScoop.com, spotlight the Froster flavor by positioning the beverage and Cheetos Sweetos snacks as a good pair. A March 29 video (see below) and March 31 update posted across the retailer's regional Facebook pages supported.
Circle K's Florida division also drummed up support for the flavor by running a sweepstakes awarding five $25 store gift cards. Consumers entered from March 9-23 by replying to a March 9 Facebook update from Circle K Florida explaining where they would go with a Cheetos Sweetos Froster. Social Forces, Tampa, FL, administered.
The convenience store store chain teams up with Frito-Lay regularly, most recently receiving an exclusive launch window for "Flamin' Hot Chipotle Ranch" Cheetos. Last year, Circle K also teamed with the manufacturer to run a campaign spotlighting rookie players and received an exclusive launch window for a new "Flamin' Hot" flavor of Ruffles potato chips.
