Alexa Now Offers Voice-Only Deals from Best Buy
Best Buy and Amazon are expanding their voice shopping partnership to add voice-exclusive deals via Alexa-enabled devices.
The new functionality is accessible using the Best Buy Skill on Amazon Echo and Echo Dot devices. Shoppers access the deals by linking their Best Buy accounts through the Alexa mobile application and saying “Alexa, talk to Best Buy.” The deals are automatically added to their My Best Buy accounts and are not available on bestbuy.com or in stores. Best Buy announced the functionality in a July 9 post to its corporate blog.
When voice-only deals are not available, Alexa will read that day’s Deal of the Day offers, which the duo first added to voice shopping last year. According to the retailer’s website, if a qualifying competitor has a voice-only deal that results in a lower price than Best Buy, the retailer’s price match guarantee policy is not applicable as of May 30.
Multiple Twitter updates from Best Buy News supported, while a bestbuy.com web page dedicated to voice shopping with Alexa outlined the new capability.
Amazon and Best Buy also recently announced a multi-year partnership. Beginning this summer, Best Buy will launch more than 10 exclusive 4K and HD Fire TV Edition models from Insignia and Toshiba.
