7-Eleven Brings Coke to the Holiday Table
7-Eleven and Coca-Cola Co. are staging a sweepstakes that shines a spotlight on classic Coca-Cola-flavored Slurpees this holiday season.
Running Nov. 8 through Jan. 2, 2018, the sweeps awards one grand-prize winner $100,000 and eight first-prize winners 365 coupons for a free medium-sized Slurpee beverage each. Shoppers enter the sweeps by visiting coke.com/711 on their mobile phones and scanning the "Sip & Scan" icon found on promotional red-colored Slurpee cups. Southfield, MI-based HelloWorld administers.
In stores, account-specific side panels depicting Santa Claus as well as translite signs on Slurpee machines tout the sweeps. A carousel ad on 7-eleven.com and video on Coca-Cola's YouTube channel (see below) support.
“Slurpee drinks create delicious experiences year 'round and the holidays are no exception,” said Laura Gordon, 7‑Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation, in a media release. “This season, Slurpee lovers can make their holidays brighter — and more delicious — by sipping on a classic Coca-Cola-flavored Slurpee while unlocking the chance to win some extra cash.”
The limited-time promotional Slurpee cup was designed to blend Coke’s iconic red and white colors with the new Slurpee bubble and swirl design, according to the retailer. (The revamped Slurpee cup design was first introduced this summer.)
In related activity, the retailer and Coca-Cola are running another sweeps and instant-win game supporting EA Sports’ Sept. 29 release of FIFA 18. Running Aug. 30 through Dec. 15, the game will award 100,000 codes for Sony's PlayStation 4 or Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox One that can be used to unlock exclusive FIFA "Ultimate Team" Coca-Cola in-game prize packs.
7-Eleven shoppers enter by purchasing exclusive FIFA 18 promotional Coke cans containing a unique code. Participants enter the codes on a promotional site (operated by HelloWorld) to receive an instant-win play. Game participants are automatically entered into the sweeps, which awards a trip to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The partners ran a similar sweeps and instant-win game for last year's release of FIFA 17.
