7-Eleven and Amazon Cash
In another example of Amazon teaming up with brick-and-mortar, the online behemoth has tapped 7-Eleven and its nearly 8,000 stores as a servicer of Amazon Cash. It’s a new way for shoppers who don’t like to use a credit card online (but trust a physical store) to pay when buying on Amazon.com. How it works is an Amazon shopper brings her personalized Amazon bar code to checkout at 7-Eleven (she can print out the Amazon Cash bar code or show it to a cashier from her mobile device) and pay the amount of money she wants to load into her Amazon account. She can add between $15 and $500 at the store. That “Amazon Cash” appears in the account when the cashier makes the fee-less transaction. 7-Eleven has already worked with Amazon as a location for delivery lockers, and the convenience chain sells prepaid Amazon gift cards. The get for 7-Eleven is foot traffic. CVS/pharmacy and GameStop are also featured merchants for Amazon Cash.
